Data Logging In this unit, pupils will consider how and why data is collected over time. |
Programming Using Scratch 2. In this unit, pupils will develop the use of count-controlled loops in a different programming environment. |
Networks and the Internet In this unit, pupils recognise that the internet is made up of computers and other digital devices connected together |
Photo editing In this unit, pupils will develop their understanding of how digital images can be changed and edited, and how they can then be resaved and reused. |
Programming with Logo In this unit, pupils will create programs by planning, modifying, and testing commands to create shapes and patterns. |

Design Technology |

Food Healthy and varied diet Children will discover the foods that were available to the Anglo Saxons and use ONLY these foods to make different sweet or savoury dishes. |
Structures- Shell structures Children will make a shell structure to use as a sturdy jewellery/ keepsake box or pencil case. They investigate strengthening materials. |

Electrical Systems Children will look at torches. They design and make a torch, which includes a light in an electrical circuit. |

Migration Children explore the types of Migration and impact of migration. They look at economic impact along how Climate Change is beginning to impact on migration. |

Rivers Children explore river processes, river landforms and how rivers impact on people. They look at the impacts of flooding – both good and bad. |
Natural Resources Children explore the earth’s natural resources and how people use them. They compare and contrast two countries and look at how exploitation of resources can cause problems. |

History |
The Roman Empire and its impact on Britain Children study the birth and development of the Roman Empire, the Roman Invasion of Britain and the Romanisation of Britain. Finally, they explore the fall of the Roman Empire. |
Saxons and Scots – Children find about how we know about the Anglo-Saxons and who invaded Britain after the Romans. They look at Anglo – Saxon life, beliefs and consider what heptarchy means?

The Vikings Children begin by exploring why the Vikings invaded Britain and what happened at Lindisfarne. Children explore the importance of Alfred. They consider the life and beliefs of the Vikings. |

Music |
Mama Mia Children use the music of Abba to explore pop music. They consider the structure of the music and learn about how tempo, dynamics and texture change. |
Glockenspiel Stage 2 Children increase their understanding of playing an instrument using notation. |
Stop Children explore Rap music looking the structure, instruments and rhythms created. Children produce and perform their own Rap. |
Lean on Me Children explore soul and gospel music. They copy play back rhythmic patterns and accurately take part in a performance. |
Blackbird Children use the Beatles music as a backdrop to explore music that carries a message. |
Reflect, rewind replay This Unit of Work consolidates the learning that has occurred during the year. All the learning is focused around revisiting songs and musical activities, a context for the History of Music and the beginnings of the Language of Music. |

PE |
Tennis In this unit pupils develop the key skills required for tennis such as the ready position, racket control and forehand and backhand ground strokes. Netball Pupils will be encouraged to persevere when developing competencies in key skills and principles such as defending, attacking, throwing, catching and shooting Gymnastics In this unit, pupils create more complex sequences. Dodgeball Pupils will improve on key skills used in dodgeball such as throwing, dodging and catching.

Dance Pupils focus on creating characters and narrative through movement and gesture. Yoga Pupils learn about mindfulness and body awareness. Fitness Pupils will take part in a range of fitness challenges testing and record their scores. Handball Pupils will develop key skills such as throwing, catching, dribbling, shooting and principles of defending and attacking |
Athletics In this unit, pupils will develop basic running, jumping and throwing techniques. OAA Pupils develop problem solving skills through a range of challenges. Rounders Pupils learn how to score points by striking a ball into space and running around cones or bases. Tag Rugby In this unit pupils will learn to keep possession of the ball using attacking skills. |

French |
Fruits In this unit the children will learn how to: Name and recognise up to 10 fruits in French. Attempt to spell some of these nouns. Ask somebody in French if they like a particular fruit. Say what fruits they like and dislike. |
Vegetables In this unit pupils will learn how to: Name and recognise up to 10 vegetables in French. Attempt to spell some of these nouns (including the correct determiner/article) Learn simple vocabulary to facilitate a role play about buying vegetables from a market stall. Say if they would like one kilo or a half kilo of a particular vegetable or selection of vegetables. |
Seasons In this unit the children will learn how to: Recognise, recall and remember the 4 seasons in French. Recognise, recall and remember a short phrase for each season in French. Say which season is their favourite in French and attempt to say why using the conjunctions ‘et’ and ‘car’. |
Presenting Myself In this unit the children will learn how to: Count to 20. Say their name and age. Say hello and goodbye, then ask how somebody is feeling and answer how they are feeling. Tell you where they live. Tell you their nationality and understand basic gender agreement rules. |
Classroom In this unit the children will learn how to: Remember and recall 12 classroom objects with their indefinite article/determiner. Replace an indefinite article/determiner with a possessive adjective. Say and write what they have and do not have in their pencil case. |
The Olympics In this unit the children will learn how to: Tell somebody in French the key facts of the history of the Olympics. Tell somebody in French the key facts of the modern Olympic games. Look for cognates and highlight key words when learning how to decode longer text in gist listening and reading in French. Say the nouns in French for key sports in the current Olympic games. sports they play and what sports they do not play.

Me and my relationships Children will identify feelings that are positive and negative. They will be able to describe what positive relationships are and how they feel. They will recognise how we may feel different to others and that this is ok. Children will be able to identify what bullying is and know how to access support. Valuing difference Children will be able to define the terms negotiation and compromise. They will know their won rights in relation to personal body space. They will be able to have open discussion about how we are all different and differences may include: ethnicity, gender, religious beliefs and customs. Children will know how stereotypes and be promoted by the media. |
Keeping Myself safe Children will define the terms: danger, risk and hazard. Children will be able to explain ways to manage and minimise risk to themselves. Children will know how to use medicines safely and understand the term ‘drugs’. Children will identify safe and unsafe types of images to post online. We will revisit ways to keep ourselves safe online and be alert to dangers. Rights and responsibilities Children will describe the various responsibilities of those who help them stay healthy and safe; they will suggest ways they can help the people who keep them healthy and safe. They will learn about ‘human rights’ and how these come with responsibility. Children will understand how they have choices and influence in decision making. |
Being my best Children will explain why they are unique and understand the importance of celebrating our unique characteristics in society. They will recognise the importance of respecting the choices that others make. Children will use the eat well guide to recognise better health choices that will help them keep their body healthy. Recognising their place and part in their community and how we all must be responsible citizens. Growing and changing Children learn to identify parts of the body that males and females have in common and those that are different; They will learn the correct terminology for their genitalia; Understand and explain why puberty happens. Science |
Sound Children learn to identify how sounds are made and recognise that vibrations from sounds travel through a medium to the ear. They find patterns between the pitch of a sound. They find patterns between the volume of a sound and the strength of the vibrations that produced it and recognise that sounds get fainter as the distance from the sound source increases.
Animals including humans Children learn about the simple functions of the digestive system. They learn about the different types of teeth in humans. |
Animals including humans They construct food chains identifying producers, predators and prey. Electricity Children identify common appliances that run on electricity. They construct a simple series electrical circuit, identifying and naming its basic parts, including cells, wires, bulbs, switches and buzzers. They identify whether or not a lamp will light in a simple series circuit, based on whether or not the lamp is part of a complete loop with a battery. They learn to recognise that a switch opens and closes a circuit and associate this with whether or not a lamp lights in a simple series circuit. Finally, they recognise some common conductors and insulators, and associate metals with being good conductors. |
Living Things and Their Habitats Children recognise that living things can be grouped in a variety of ways. They explore and use classification keys to help identify and name a variety of living things. They learn that environments can change.
States of matter Children compare and group materials together, according to whether they are solids, liquids or gases. They observe that some materials change state when they are heated or cooled, and measure or research the temperature at which this happens in degrees Celsius (°C). Children identify the part played by evaporation and condensation in the water cycle and associate the rate of evaporation with temperature. |
